CHOP offers a summer externship, Oncology fellowship, co-op program, Pediatric Immersion Experience, and more for Nursing students.
Our 12-month Nurse Residency helps new graduate nurses transition into their first professional roles. Incorporate research-based evidence into practice; engage in seminars and simulations; and receive guidance as you set professional goals.
The Professional Advancement Program recognizes that nurses practice on a continuum of proficiency depending on their experience, patient complexity, and work environment. Professional Excellence & Advancing Knowledge (PEAK) is a voluntary development opportunity within the program designed to help you advance personally and professionally.
Our comprehensive, 16-month Critical Care Continuum Program will help you develop the skills to join CHOP’s interdisciplinary Transport Team, composed of RNs, paramedics, and respiratory therapists. Depending on prior experience, nurses spend six to nine months in our Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and one year in our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) before moving to the Transport Team.
The 12-week Advanced Med-Surg (AMS) program immerses RNs in a critical care environment, where they cultivate the skills needed to care for a “lower acuity” patient population in one of our ICUs. Nurses can select their area of interest (Neonatal, Pediatric, or Cardiac ICU); train alongside RNs and leaders in those areas; then independently practice in the ICU.
The Periop 101 Transition-to-Practice Program consists of classroom and skills lab instruction, self-learning modules, clinical experience, hands-on training, and simulations. The length of the program can range from 7 to 18 months depending on the procedural area. At the completion of the program, you'll become a valued member of our OR.
