Job Summary

PolicyLab at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is seeking a Senior Communications Associate to join our communications team. PolicyLab is a research center within CHOP’s Research Institute that aims to achieve optimal child health and well-being by informing program and policy changes through interdisciplinary research.

 

PolicyLab offers this exciting opportunity to impact the organization’s mission by providing broad support to PolicyLab’s communications team, as well as direct support to PolicyLab faculty on translation and dissemination of their research and initiatives to internal and external audiences. As a member of the strategy team, this position will also work collaboratively with PolicyLab’s policy team and research portfolio leadership on strategies and tactics to advance the center’s policy and research priorities. The Senior Communications Associate will manage several important writing projects and assist with media outreach on PolicyLab research.

 

The Senior Communications Associate position is ideal for a communications professional with a background in health who is looking to develop their skills in strategic communications planning, translation of research and project management. A strong foundation in writing and the ability to work well on a team are keys to success in this role. This position reports to the Strategy & Communications Manager.

Job Responsibilities

 

Strategize with PolicyLab researchers and research portfolios on dissemination strategies and tactics for their articles and other work, with a view towards broader public policy influence

Conduct extensive writing projects including managing PolicyLab’s external newsletter, assisting in development of communications and policy tools, and writing/editing blog posts for PolicyLab’s blog

Assist with media outreach on newsworthy research and initiatives

Plan, execute and promote PolicyLab’s webinar series

Maintain/edit content on the PolicyLab website

Conduct other duties as assigned

 

Required Education and Experience

Required Education: Bachelor’s degree

 

Required Experience:

  • At least three (3) years of health communications experience.
  • Extensive writing experience

Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic

Preferred Education: At least five (5) years of health communications experience

 

Preferred Experience:

Experience with media outreach strongly preferred, preferably in Philadelphia

  • Excellent communications skills (both written and oral)
  • Able to perform tasks independently
  • Able to work accurately and pay strict attention to detail
  • Able to work in collaboration with other professionals and staff within CHOP and partner organizations
  • Adaptable to do work which is varied and requires an intellectual and professional approach
  • Must have strong writing, organizational, and time management skills
  • Candidate should have an interest in and commitment to the goals of the department
