Job Summary

The Student will work in the Dept of Biomedical and Health Informatics (DBHi) to make enhancements on Open Source software maintained by DBHI. This role will require working with RIA programmers on full stack development of web applications used for translational biobanking research. The student will get exposure to full software engineering processes including interaction with application users, building requirements, design, implementation, testing and deployment. On the job training and resources will be available to enable the student to be productive with the following technologies: Python, Django, React JS, Docker and git.
 

This position will support up to 20 hrs per week at a competitive hourly compensation

Job Responsibilities

•    Work with RIA programmers in DBHI to gather requirements, design, develop and test enhancements on open source software applications.
•    Write automated unit and functional tests of complex application logic.
•    Document code and generate appropriate technical and user documentation for software and applications.
 

Required Education and Experience

Required Education: High School/GED

 

Required Experience: 0-2 prior internships or paid experience in a research informatics environment.

Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic

Preferred Experience: Enrolled in undergraduate program at a 2 or 4 year college or university desirable.

Additional Technical Requirements

•    Good written and verbal communication skills
•    Able to work in an organized fashion, work well with others
•    Good attention to detail
•    Experience with Microsoft Office applications desirable
•    Familiarity with coding in at least one language
•    Ability to work independently
•    Interest in learning and working with the following technologies: Python, Django, React JS, Docker and HTML.
