Job Summary

The Transport Tech works under the direction of the nurse manager/program manager to maintain transport equipment in the work areas throughout the hospital.  He/she maintains the unit environment in a well-stocked and organized fashion. The Transport Tech performs the necessary duties that assist in the coordination and completion of scheduled and unscheduled patient transports.  Also responsible for additional administrative and clerical responsibilities as assigned by the nurse manager/program manager. This is a entry level position, with part-time scheduling.                                                                                                                                                            

Job Responsibilities

Maintains and organizes the transport environment and supplies to facilitate departmental function.

  • Completes Daily checks
  • Ensures that supplies and equipment are handled and stored properly according to manufacturers’ recommendations
  • Cleans, repairs and performs routine preventive maintenance on all transport equipment. Consults with Biomedical as needed.
  • Ensures proper functioning and integrity of all transport equipment.
  • Takes ownership of transport teams supply room and works in partnership with SPD to:
  • Ensure room is appropriately stocked check for expired supplies ensure proper charge compliance and performing Par Ex Reconciliation

Works collaboratively with transport teams clinical staff to expedite team turnaround time

  • Assists in the cleaning of the trucks, stretchers, and equipment
  • Responsible for restocking transport bags
  • Ensuring that equipment is cleaned, functioning properly, and ready to go for next transport

Assists with Administrative and Billing responsibilities

  • Scan patient records into the EHR
  • Fax copies to flight vendors
  • Restocking of all paperwork
  • Ensure timely signatures of verbal orders
  • Support Leadership and team members by Assisting with CQI Projects and/or other projects assigned

Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations

BLS

Required Education and Experience

High school diploma/GED

Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic

Previous experience in a health related field

Additional Technical Requirements

  • Must have understanding of medical terminology through training or experience.
  • Remain calm under pressure while handling multiple tasks.
  • Ability to remain calm, think clearly during stressful situations.
  • Prioritization skills
  • Independent judgment in setting priorities and finding appropriate resources for each specific transport.
  • EMT or other medical training a plus
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to prioritize and organize tasks according to unit’s needs
  • Ability to establish and maintain good interpersonal relationships
  • Good organization skills
  • Word Processing spreadsheet creation, data management experience preferred
