Job Summary

The Center for Data-Driven Discovery in Biomedicine (D3b - d3b.center) is seeking a talented technical project manager to join the Project Management Team within the Strategic Coordination Unit and manage expectations for bioinformatics engineering and analytics projects/tasks within the Data Analytics Management and Engineering Unit. You will join a cross-institutional team within the Gabriella Miller Kids First Data Resource Center (DRC), a large-scale effort to revolutionize pediatric research by bringing together and providing researchers with access to harmonized pediatric rare-disease and cancer data. The successful candidate will have experience in agile and scrum methodology, Github, communicate effectively, and empower the technical teams to deliver on innovation. Deep knowledge of, or direct experience in genomics, bioinformatics, computational biology, or computer science is preferred.

Job Responsibilities

A Project Manager I
1.    Manages high-complexity projects or project subsets according to the established scope, timeline, budget, and specification, as assigned.
2.    Collaboratively plans sprints using GitHub, tracks projects using ZenHub, and reconciles resource expenditures with project plans.
3.    Participates in daily standup meetings, weekly bioinformatics meetings, and biweekly sprint planning meetings.
4.    Prepares project status reports as directed by the Manager of Research Programs.
5.    Communicates with project sponsors, stakeholders and team members, as directed by the Manager of Research Programs.

Required Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three to five years working on IT projects in a progressive lead role.
  • Must be PMI Member in good standing.
  • CAPM certification or working on PMP certification
Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic
  • A bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare IT or related fields.  
  • Must be a member of PMI in good standing. 
Additional Technical Requirements

Working knowledge of GitHub and bioinformatics pipelines and/or analytical workflows (eg: variant calling, RNA expression/fusion analyses, benchmarking tools, CNV/SV analyses, harmonization)
