Job Summary

A dedicated group of nurses, surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, medical assistants, perioperative and anesthesia technicians, and administrative support staff collaborate to provide state of the art family-centered perioperative care for more than 20,000 patients each year.  Patients from all over the world undergo both straightforward and complex surgical procedures on a daily basis twenty-four hours each day in a 21 room intraoperative suite. Trainees in all disciplines develop skills that allow them to further the care of children and research efforts and form the foundation for new and innovative perioperative care.   This requisition may be filling multiple positions.  

The Surgical Technologist I is an integral member of the surgical team. The Technologist I works under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse/Circulating Nurse. He/she functions in a scrub role, providing assistance to the operating surgeon and assistants.  He/she also provides assistance in preparations for procedures and the clean-up afterwards.  This individual works collaboratively with the entire surgical team.

Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations

CPR Certification issued through an organization that requires a hands-on instructor lead psychomotor skills verification (ex. American Heart Association or Red Cross)
Surgical Technologist Certification from an accredited certification program

Required Education and Experience

Required Education:

  • High School/GED.
  • Graduate of an accredited school for scrub technologist training or has successfully completed an appropriate training program for surgical technology in the US Army, Navy or Air Force

Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic

Preferred Experience: Minimum one (1) year of operating room experience.

Additional Technical Requirements

  • Ability to communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize tasks according to Unit’s needs.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
