Job Summary

The Staff Accountant II is responsible for closing out externally sponsored programs in the financial system as well reporting out to external sponsors final expenditures. This requires a working knowledge of multiple funding sources such as federal, foundation, corporate sponsored funds, contracts, etc. Also responsible for preparation of accounts receivable invoicing. Works under general supervision of the Accounting Manager.

Job Responsibilities

1. Grant/Sponsored Program Closeouts Review and Analysis

2. Completion of report of expenditures by required sponsor/internal deadline.

•All salaries charged to grants/sponsored programs reconcile to payroll labor allocations.

•All Affiliate salaries and fringe benefits are reconciled to supporting documentation

•All non-personnel expenditures are accurately and appropriately charged to grants/sponsored programs.

•All expenses are charged to the appropriate grants/sponsored programs budget period of performance

•Reconcile outgoing subcontract invoices on grants/sponsored programs ensuring invoicing is complete by the subcontractee by the sponsor’s financial report due dates

3. Monthly Reconciliations

•Reconciliation of general ledger accounts.

• 4. Accounts Receivable Invoicing

•Ensure that all required accounts receivable invoices are completed within in the required timeline.  This includes but is not limited to the completion of system and manual invoices, reconciliation of invoices to expenses incurred, ongoing communication with sponsors, along with review and validation of information reflected and required on invoices.

Required Education and Experience

Required Education: Bachelors in Accounting.

Required Experience: 3-5 years’ accounting experience, hospital preferred.

Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic

Preferred Education: Masters or advanced certification

Additional Technical Requirements
  • Proficient in the use of Excel.
  • Strong analytical & computer skills.
