Job Summary

PolicyLab at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is seeking a Senior Policy Associate to join our policy team. PolicyLab is a research center within CHOP’s Research Institute that aims to achieve optimal child health and well-being by informing program and policy changes through interdisciplinary research.


Help deliver on PolicyLab’s mission by facilitating and supporting the work of our research portfolios, our internal infrastructure to support policy engagement across the center, and a vital community partnership. This position will work collaboratively with the Health Policy Director, policy team, and PolicyLab’s communications team to advance the center’s strategic aims and identified policy priorities. It will also have a relationship to CHOP’s Division of Social Work.


The Senior Policy Associate will support strategic decision-making and collaborative work (including content development) within one or more of the Center’s research portfolios, provide program coordination and strategic support for CHOP’s Medical Legal Partnership in partnership with CHOP’s Division of Social Work, and lead the policy team’s efforts related to internal training offerings and keeping the center informed of relevant external policy developments.


The Senior Policy Associate position is ideal for an early-career policy professional with a background and/or interest in children’s health and health equity, and with demonstrated experience in project management. It provides the opportunity to further develop skills in writing for a policy audience, policy analysis, and understanding of the research environment. The position reports to the Health Policy Director.


Job Responsibilities

  • Work closely with relevant faculty and staff leadership to facilitate and support collaboration within at least one of PolicyLab’s research portfolios, and lead implementation of the supporting strategies, content, and policy process engagement.
  • Provide coordination and strategic support for CHOP’s Medical Legal Partnership under the Division of Social Work, including working closely with the legal partners to track program data, advance policy priorities and identify opportunities for evaluation and funding.
  • Work closely with PolicyLab’s communications and policy experts to develop and disseminate strategic communications, including blogs, commentaries, and related documents.
  • Manage internal policy training resources, learning opportunities, and policy team internal communications to build the capacity of PolicyLab’s faculty and staff to engage in policy processes.
  • Conduct other duties as assigned

Required Education and Experience

Required Education: Bachelor’s degree


Preferred Experience: Five (5) years of clinical research experience.

Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic

Preferred Education/Experience: Master’s degree


Preferred Experience: Seven (7) years of clinical research experience.

To carry out its mission, it is of critical importance for the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) to keep our patients, families and workforce safe and healthy and to support the health of our global community.
