Job Summary

The Senior Manager for Strategic Planning will actively support strategic planning at both the enterprise and programmatic levels.  As an integral member of the department, the Manager will engage with administrative, clinical and research leadership in strategic planning processes, including vetting of key assumptions, synthesis of internal and external factors, as well as the development and prioritization of strategies.  The Senior Manager will also support senior leadership in strategy development through market analysis, competitor analysis, decision support, industry sizing, monitoring and interpreting of industry trends, industry / peer comparisons, identification / triaging of business development opportunities and development of business plans for new/expanding programs.  In addition, the Senior Manager will be responsible for oversight of accessibility and integrity of planning databases. 

Job Responsibilities
  • Supports a dynamic and fluid enterprise strategic planning process
    • Assesses and synthesizes market, demographic, competitive, legislative and other trends
    • Facilitates discussion and drives collaboration around the identification and prioritization of strategies
    • Promotes creative and critical thinking in order to develop compelling and innovative strategies
    • Ensures alignment of and communication with key stakeholders
    • Develops, monitors and supports execution of implementation plans

 

  • Supports clinical and strategic initiatives
    • Collaborates on developing strategic inputs into the capacity planning and budgeting processes
    • Anticipates and develops responses to market opportunities in collaboration with other members of the department and key stakeholders
    • Collaborates with senior leadership to develop business plans for new/expanding programs
    • Leads and supports programmatic and service line strategic planning initiatives
    • Drives collaboration and integration of planning initiatives across missions, departments and programs

 

  • Manages planning tools and databases
    • Takes responsibility for management, maintenance and oversight of planning databases
    • Proactively scans and evaluates new planning tools and methodologies
    • Works with internal and external stakeholders to develop actionable standardized reporting

 

  • Customer Service
    • Builds productive and positive relationships with key customers
    • Understands customers business challenges and opportunities - collaborates on developing strategic solutions
    • Highly responsive to customer needs ensuring customer satisfaction
Required Education and Experience
  • Education
    • Masters degree required in Business Administration, Public Health or other health-related field
  • Experience, Qualifications and Qualities
    • 4- 6 years of experience in healthcare preferred.
    • Demonstrated experience in an environment with a culture of collaboration and consensus driven decision-making.
    • Demonstrated experience in managing a portfolio of projects, including facilitating teams and driving process.
    • Intellectual curiosity and strong critical thinking skills with ability to synthesize disparate sources of data.
    • Outstanding communication skills, including oral, written and presentation.
    • Willingness to advocate for new ideas, coupled with a commitment to measurement and accountability.
    • Strong persuasion and negotiations skills, and the ability to engage, challenge and influence one’s thinking to effect change throughout an organization.
    • Experience in managing and developing professional staff, including mentoring and providing constructive feedback.
    • Commitment to the highest ethical and professional standards; personal and professional integrity above reproach.
Additional Technical Requirements
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Excel, Power Point and Word

  • Strong knowledge of database structures, management, and data mining (SQL, Access)
  • Intermediate user of geospatial mapping tools (ArcGIS)
