Job Summary

The Senior Director of the Emergency Critical Care Transport will be a strong mentor and leader, embedding evidenced based practices via all transport modes (ground, fixed and rotor wing) in a state of the art pediatric setting. The Senior Director will be responsible for the oversight of clinical practice, staffing, materials management, financial stewardship and communications for the department. This role includes development of new programs to meet the needs of both the hospital, as well as the community, overseeing partnerships with ambulance, rotor and fixed wing vendors, as well as acting as a liaison with the clinical and administrative staff of referring facilities.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Provides direct oversight for the Emergency Critical Care Transport Team and the Transport Communication Center Managers, including setting expectations for hiring, orientation, training, customer service, and ongoing education of the staff.
  2. Collaborates with the Medical Director to  enact a  standardized review of processes and policies, including revisions, that are compliant with Local, State and National regulations
  3. Collaborates with the Medical Director in serving as a resource with other organizations, both local and national level, to maintain effective communication and ensure criteria for measuring standards and compliance are in place
  4. Leads the nursing staff in delivering excellent care to patients to achieve quality, safety, and customer satisfaction goals
  5. Collaborates with the Medical Director to design, implement and monitor quality improvement programs designed to deliver the highest possible levels of service
  6. Participates in short and long-term planning goals for the department to support the mission of the hospital.

Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations
Nationally Registered Paramedic or Licensed as a Registered Nurse in state of Pennsylvania.
Additional certifications required upon hire: AHA BLS – HCP, ACLS, PALS, NRP, PHTLS, ATLS
Required Education and Experience

Required Education: 

  • Master’s degree in business or healthcare related field.


Required Experience:

  • Four (4) years related emergency transport team experience
  • Four (4) years of progressive management experience in a healthcare environment leading to demonstrated fiscal, staff engagement and operational efficiency
Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic
  • Certification as Medical Transport Executive (CMTE).
  • State of PA EMT-B or EMT-P PHRN or other comparable certification.
  • EMS and BLS instructor with previous experience public speaking.
