Job Summary

The Safety Center Assistant supports the Injury Prevention Program in the day to day functioning of the Safety Center and the Mobile Safety Center. Responsible for interacting with the public, instructing others in the selection and proper use of safety equipment and maintaining supplies.

Job Responsibilities

  •  Act as staff for the Safety Center and the Mobile Safety Center.
  •  Instructs caregivers and other customers in the selection and correct use of appropriate safety devices
  •  Takes inventory, stocks supplies and maintains records of sales.
  • Act is a certified car seat technician to teach families how to correctly install their car seats.
  •  Participates in all aspects of the community car seat program.

Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations

Car seat technician certification or obtained within 3 months of placement into position
DRL - Driver's License

Required Education and Experience

Required Education: High school diploma / GED;

Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic

Preferred Education: Associates Degree

Preferred Experience: Experience working in healthcare office setting preferred.

Additional Technical Requirements

  • Works independently within established project objectives.

  • Exercises considerable initiative, good judgment and diplomacy in resolving conflicts

  • Consults with supervisor regarding unusual circumstances or problems.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to teach safety techniques and principles to the public
  • Must be available to work some weekends
  • Must be available for local travel and be able to drive CHOP vehicles
