Job Summary

The Division of Emergency Medicine’s Resource Coordinator will support and encourage greater academic activities around QI, Research, and Education work at CHOP as a way to promote greater physician involvement in meeting their academic requirements, as well as to build CHOP's reputation as a leader in QI, Research, and Education work and being a learning health system.  The Division of Emergency Medicine’s Resource Coordinator will assist staff with writing, research, and organizational functions to support QI, Research, and Education publication and external presentation.

Preferred education and experience

Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, health policy, pre-med, anthropology, sociology, or related field.

2-3 years of scientific writing experience preferred, as well as online resource development. 

Job Responsibilities

Act as the liaison throughout the abstract, manuscript, or presentation preparation process to communicate information to and from project team members, the sponsor, and other team members or authors; organize meetings and conference calls.

Assist with enhancing awareness of research, education, advocacy and improvement projects across the division through maintenance of materials and content for our online @CHOP sites. 

Maintain guidelines and templates for sections of abstracts, presentations, posters, newsletters and manuscripts.

Maintain an online library of resources (e.g. SQUIRE guidelines, examples) to assist in academic work on QI, Research and Education. 

Help increase dissemination of DoEM QI, Research and Education successes / scholarly activity.

Assist in writing and/or editing the abstract, presentation, manuscript.

Organize references for manuscripts using EndNote.

Assist with literature and manuscript review.

Assist in development of presentations of improvement work for internal and external communication.

Read and understand requirements for submission of abstracts or manuscripts and systematically collect components and maintain collaborative workspaces while adhering to established timelines. Upload manuscripts in collaborative workspaces and process revisions.

For electronic submissions, upload all documents in correct format and ensure that all required elements are complete. Work with lead author and project team to see through to submission. For paper submissions, compile all components and work with lead author to complete sign-off, copying, collating and mailing of all required documents.

Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations


Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or eqivalent with demonstrated success in a similar position for at least 5 years. 

Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic

  • Bachelor's degree with minimum 2 – 3 years relevant experience in a research setting.

Additional Technical Requirements

  • Excellent customer service and time management skills required.
  • Must be able to work effectively with minimal direct oversight and manage multiple projects with varying deadlines for several individuals.
  • Must be able to juggle multiple demands, work styles, and needs.
  • Demonstrated skill in use of Macintosh or IBM- compatible computers and with software including Word and PowerPoint including use of tables and merge documents, constructing charts and graphs, embedding graphics and objects, etc.
  • Familiarity with bibliographic software (e.g., Reference Manager), scanning, slide making, Medline searching, etc. preferred.
