Job Summary

The Ma lab for Immune Engineering is a highly interdisciplinary lab located at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania. We employ a combination of genetic, chemistry, engineering and computational tools to decode the molecular and cellular crosstalk between immune cells and their microenvironment, and leverage these crosstalk mechanisms to engineer novel biomaterials, protein, and cell-based precision immunotherapies.

 

We are looking for a research technician to work alongside scientists performing cutting-edge immune engineering research. The ideal candidate will have laboratory experience and knowledge of molecular biology and immunology and basic laboratory techniques such as flow cytometry. Comfort with handling animals and necropsy is required. The technician will be trained in tissue culture work, cell and virus manufacturing. Prior experience in any of these specialties is a plus. Other duties may include lab ordering, package processing and documentation.

Job Responsibilities

  • Performs routine tests under the direction of principal investigator or supervisor
  • Performs research procedures on experimental samples as directed
  • Records and checks results for completeness and accuracy
  • Performs calculations and maintains appropriate log and lab notebooks
  • Performs tasks that require familiarity with fundamental techniques and equipment
  • Assists with planning specific research protocols and procedures
  • Maintains office, lab area, reagents, supplies and equipment
  • Cleans and performs routine maintenance on lab equipment
  • Coordinates schedules of tests & procedures
  • Attends courses, seminars, and lab meetings to expand knowledge of research and laboratory techniques
  • Records results, organizes data and maintains lab notebook in an organized manner
  • Conducts literary searches as directed

Required Education and Experience

Required Education: Associates Degree

 

Required Experience: Nine (9) months of laboratory experience

Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic

Preferred Education: Bachelor’s Degree
