Job Summary

Dr. Fanxin Long Lab is  seeking to fill multiple research technician II positions in the Dr. Fanxin Long lab . The Lab  is within the Translational Research Program in Pediatric Orthopaedics Division of Orthopaedic Surgery. The successful candidate will carry out cellular, biochemical and molecular experiments under the supervision of senior group members and will include the following: genotyping for transgenic mouse lines, tissue/cell collection and processing, tissue sectioning, immunohistochemistry, and imaging procedures. Additionally, the Research Tech will maintain efficient laboratory operations and have general laboratory responsibilities including ordering supplies, as assigned or directed, in order to meet the goals and objectives of the projects.

Preferred applicant will have:

 Bachelor's Degree with a major in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, biology or related field. Previous laboratory experience preferred.

Job Responsibilities
  • Performs routine tests under the direction of principal investigator or supervisor
  • Performs research procedures on experimental samples as directed
  • Records and checks results for completeness and accuracy
  • Performs calculations and maintains appropriate log and lab notebooks
  • Performs tasks that require familiarity with fundamental techniques and equipment
  • Assists with planning specific research protocols and procedures
  • Maintains office, lab area, reagents, supplies and equipment
  • Cleans and performs routine maintenance on lab equipment
  • Coordinates schedules of tests & procedures
  • Attends courses, seminars, and lab meetings to expand knowledge of research and laboratory techniques
  • Records results, organizes data and maintains lab notebook in an organized manner
  • Conducts literary searches as directed
Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations
Required Education and Experience

Required Education: Associates Degree


Required Experience: Nine (9) months of laboratory experience

Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic

Preferred Education: Bachelor’s Degree


Preferred Experience:

  • Eighteen (18) months of laboratory experience
  • Related internship experience.
