Job Summary

Located in the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) Research Institute, the Clinical Research Support Office (CRSO) provides high quality services to assist investigators and study teams in the start-up, execution and completion of clinical research studies. As part of the CRSO, the Clinical Trial Support program provides services related to the administrative support of clinical trials, including the Recruitment Enhancement Core (REC).

 

This role works with the Director/Assistant Director of Clinical Trial Support on meeting the strategies and objectives of the Recruitment Enhancement Core (REC). Serves as a liaison between investigators, external agencies, and community-based organizations in regard to recruitment plan development and community engagement.

 

This role also supports investigator’s recruitment efforts in alignment with the IRB approved recruitment plans and CHOP policies and procedures.  Consults with investigators and study teams during recruitment plan development and throughout the life of a study to offer input on recruitment strategy and enhancing recruitment success.  Develops creative solutions to increasing recruitment, enhances internal communication between investigators and departments at CHOP and in the community related to recruitment efforts, and develops strategies to expand participant pools for research at CHOP.  Maintains an internal recruitment list and manages new additions and recruitment opt-out requests.  Promotes the services of the Recruitment Enhancement Core both internally and externally. Develops and maintains communication tools for the REC through partnerships with Research Communications, Public Relations, the CHOP social media group, and external collaborators. Ensures timely completion of workload and adherence to REC standards.

Job Responsibilities

Recruitment Services

  • Organize, develop, and execute effective recruitment plans to promote and drive participant recruitment for clinical research studies and projects
  • Collaborate with the Clinical Reporting Unit and other data repositories to support recruitment activities
  • Maintain governance over research participant registry
  • Track data, assess performance, improve and reassess continuously the impact and/or success of recruitment activities
  • Engage public in support of research participant registry
  • Collaborate with Research Communications to assist research teams in designing effective marketing, advertising, and public relation plans to enhance recruitment efforts
  • Engage research community in strengthening recruitment activities through outreach, Research Institute events, and internal marketing strategies
  • Foster collaboration across Hospital and Research Institute to facilitate and enhance recruitment efforts

 

Marketing / Development

  • Respond to external and internal inquiries regarding ongoing research at CHOP and REC matching capabilities
  • Coordinate REC efforts with other relevant CHOP offices, research groups, community organizations, and outside vendors to raise the profile of the Research Institute 
  • Establish outside ongoing contacts with related organizations to cultivate the potential referral of study participants and relationships with CHOP
  • Prepare for and attend local recruitment opportunities as a representative of CHOP including the execution of all registration, materials, promotion, and coordination of volunteers
  • Support internal marketing efforts of the REC and promote complementary Research Institute and CRSO services

 

Training and Compliance

  • Communicate and interface with research personnel in order to develop and provide presentations, demonstrations, and materials to effectively educate and train research staff and market REC services
  • Understand CHOP and IRB policies related to recruitment efforts in order to ensure proposed recruitment plans follow relevant SOPs

Required Education and Experience

Required Education: Bachelor’s degree

 

Required Experience: Previous recruitment or marketing experience

Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic

Preferred Education: Master’s Degree

 

Preferred Experience: 

  • Three (3) years of recruiting or marketing experience
  • Previous human subjects research experience
  • Previous experience in a hospital or healthcare related environment

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team to achieve goals
