Research Post-Doctoral Fellow in Pulmonary and Cystic Fibrosis Epithelial Cell Biology & Physiology


A postdoctoral fellowship position is available in the Cystic Fibrosis Center at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Research Institute under the mentorship of Ronald Rubenstein, MD, PhD. The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia is an interdisciplinary institution dedicated to conducting basic, clinical and translational research on conditions and diseases that affect children.


The Post-Doctoral Fellow will investigate the regulation of trafficking and function of proteins that are relevant to pulmonary disease, including but not limited to epithelial ion channels relevant to Cystic Fibrosis.  Applicants must have a doctoral degree in a relevant field, such as Biochemistry, Cellular and/or Molecular Biology, Physiology or Pharmacology and a strong background in techniques relevant to these fields. Additional experience with advanced imaging techniques or proteomic techniques is desirable but not required.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Conduct independent scholarly research and develop new methods and protocols
  2. Participate in project planning, recording and evaluation of data
  3. Acquire technical, lab management and grant writing skills
  4. Participate in seminars, lectures, poster sessions and presentation at national meetings
  5. Supervise junior lab members
  6. Assist with other research projects
Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations
Required Education and Experience
  • A terminal degree PhD, MD, DVM, etc.
  • According to the CMS (Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services) a copy of diploma or transcript is required as proof of academic achievement for all non-laboratory personnel performing non-waived POC testing
