Job Summary

The Research Nurse is responsible for the research needs of the Otolaryngology Division in projects related to pediatric hearing impairments, Cochlear Implants, airway disorders, and management of other diseases of the ears, nose and throat.


Job Responsibilities

  • Attending patient hours and recruiting/consenting patients.
  • Complete telephone calls to subjects in IRB studies and follow up with PIs and subjects with study questions.
  • Collecting and organizing clinical data from patient charts.
  • Maintaining data for a large multidisciplinary database project.
  • Performing searches in literature and institutional databases.
  • Assisting in study design.
  • Assisting Faculty and Fellows in preparing manuscripts, slide presentations and posters.

Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations

Registered Nursing License in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania or State of New Jersey

Required Education and Experience

Required Education:  BSN. Graduation from an ACEN and/or CCNE accredited school of nursing or college.


Required Experience: One year of clinical nursing experience.    

Additional Technical Requirements

  • Familiarity with Windows computers and software, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint and medical resources on the internet.
  • Experience with databases such as Microsoft Access is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Ability to read and understand and follow detailed, oral and written instructions.
