Job Summary

This is a unique, part-time opportunity for a nurse or other pediatric health care professional to join the core team of the Center for Pediatric Traumatic Stress (CPTS) to help develop and provide effective training and resources for health care providers regarding pediatric traumatic stress. The Interprofessional Training and Education Specialist will develop collaborative relationships with national provider organizations, and develop training programs and materials to increase traumatic stress awareness and skills for trauma-informed care among health care providers and systems. 

Job Responsibilities

Interprofessional Training and Education Specialist will:

  • Develop and implement a strategic plan to engage nurses and other health care providers to increase awareness and recognition of pediatric traumatic stress.
  • Establish and maintain collaborations with national associations of health care professionals to provide information, education, and training in trauma-informed care tailored to the needs of their members.
  • Develop training materials for nurses and other health care providers, including in-person and online continuing education programs and presentations. Deliver presentations for health care professional audiences. Use software tools to create online training materials and track usage and outcomes.
  • Promote adoption of culturally-sensitive trauma-informed practice and assist provider teams in adapting, embedding, and evaluating trauma-informed assessment and intervention into routine pediatric care.
  • Participate in and assist with CPTS data collection, tracking, presentations, publications, reports, and information requests. Report regularly on status of projects and tasks under his/her direction.
  • Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team. Must be able to frequently interact in a supportive and optimistic manner with Center colleagues, internal and external collaborators, representatives of national professional organizations, and support staff.

Required Education and Experience

Required Education: 

  • Bachelors degree

 

Required Experience: 

  • Three (3) years of experience in strategic program planning, development, and evaluation 
Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Masters’ preferred
  • Minimum 2 years clinical experience as health care professional, preferably in hospital-based pediatric care.
  • 2 years experience in providing training to other professionals and/or in program coordination is preferred
  • Experience as active member of national professional organization(s) strongly preferred.
Additional Technical Requirements
  • Working knowledge of Word, Power Point, Excel, and web-based search tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to collaborate effectively
  • Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability to change
  • Acts as a professional role model in all aspects of performance
