Job Summary

The Center for Autism Research (CAR) is conducting a wide range of studies seeking to identify causes of ASD, and to explore novel methods of diagnosis, effective interventions, and other supports for families affected by ASD.  The CAR Data and Statistical Core supports a diverse array of data projects and infrastructure across the Center, including creating and maintaining clinical research databases and data workflows for CAR’s research studies.  We are seeking a full-time Research Data Analyst (RDA) to join CAR’s Data Core, to support NIH-funded research projects that are funded through 2024.

Primary responsibilities include writing code in R and SQL to create, score, and manage databases of behavioral and psychological assessments, maintaining server-based infrastructure, performing detailed QA/QC, extracting and recombining datasets for analysis, and creating data visualizations and reports.   The RDA will keep detailed documentation and exercise excellent time management, flexibly balancing work on multiple simultaneous projects based on the Center’s needs.  The RDA will meet regularly with the Data Core Project Manager and Directors, and interface on a project basis with Scientists, Clinicians, and staff across the Center.

Prior experience with some or all of these duties is a plus but is not necessary; many of the Research Data Analyst’s duties can be learned on the job. The CAR Data Core is seeking hardworking team players who are able to quickly learn and apply information in a fast-paced, collaborative research setting.  Successful applicants are passionate about utilizing data management best practices to contribute to health-related research, have had experience in a clinical research or a similar setting, and have used R, python, or SQL for data wrangling.  

This position offers valuable experience in preparation for a career as an Analyst or Data Manager in a health research field.  As a member of CAR, the RDA will join a collaborative team and attend lectures and seminars on recent findings in autism research and psychology.  As a member of the CAR Data Core, the RDA will also attend workshops and trainings on techniques in project and data management and analytics. 

Job Responsibilities (Continued)
  • Participate in research by analyzing, abstracting, entering, and presenting data using research databases, including REDCap and MySQL.
  • Review patient charts and record, analyze, and abstract data with 100% accuracy.
  • Create datasets and databases, using R, python, and SQL with 100% accuracy.
  • Monitor and maintain research databases and other CAR research data infrastructure, including the integration of data from video, neuroimaging (MRI, EEG), eye tracking, and behavioral research paradigms.
  • Keep up-to-date with all possible database capabilities as well as related software and technology, such as server-based scheduled tasks, github and other version control software, and data visualization dashboards in Tableau and R.
  • Effectively communicate with a diverse team of research staff (PhDs in Psychology, Computer Science, MDs).
  • Participate in clinical research within area and in other activities to support the project.
  • Perform other related duties that support the CAR Data Core more generally.

  • Coordinate abstract writing and presentation as required.
  • Monitor and maintain research database.
  • Act as divisional resource for research database management.
  • Keep up-to-date with all possible database capabilities as well as related software and technology.
  • Participate in clinical research within area and in other activities to support the project.
  • Perform other related duties as a result of the research performed, such as literature searches, etc.
Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations
None
Required Education and Experience

Required Education: BA/BS degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or Information Technology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Required Experience: Two years of experience with clinical databases and clinical research.

Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic

Preferred Education: Masters degree
