Job Summary

This role is an advanced independent researcher that plans, coordinates and executes complex research projects.

We are looking for a research associate for exciting work aimed at uncovering circadian underpinnings of lung injury. I am a physician scientist and an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and we have many novel and interesting projects at various stages of development.  The role is ideal for an independent researcher.

Potential candidates will be expected to carry out basic molecular and cellular biology procedures including RNA isolation, qPCR, protein isolation and Western Blot, independently. Experience with flowcytometry and computational analyses etc will be viewed favorably. Some experience with rodents will be an advantage but is not absolutely essential. Experience with circadian biology will also be an advantage but we are happy to train up on that. Since the focus of our research is circadian biology—some experiments will require work at times outside of the usual hours of operation (9am-5pm) or over the weekends. Whenever such hours are needed, adjustments to the weekday hours will be made. Overall working hours and schedule are flexible based on the experimental needs. We are proud of our amazing teamwork and collaborations that makes science so much more fun! Dedicated researchers will have ample opportunities for presenting their work at conference and eventually authorship in manuscripts. Further through the UPenn/CHOP campus one will have unparalleled access to lectures, seminar and workshops on a wide array of scientific topics.

In keeping with this, CHOP has mandated all workforce members on site at any CHOP location for any portion of their time be vaccinated for COVID-19 as a condition of employment.  This mandate also applies to workforce members performing work for CHOP at non-CHOP locations. Additionally, all workforce members based in or regularly scheduled to work at any New Jersey location are mandated to be both vaccinated and boosted for COVID-19, with booster timing consistent with applicable guidelines. The CHOP COVID-19 vaccine mandate is in alignment with applicable local, state and federal mandates. CHOP also requires all workforce members who work in patient care buildings or who provide patient care to receive an annual influenza vaccine. Employees may request exemption consideration for CHOP vaccine requirements for valid religious and medical reasons.  Please note start dates may be delayed until candidates are fully immunized or valid exemption requests are reviewed.
