Job Summary

A Postdoctoral Fellow position is available at the University of Pennsylvania and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in a vibrant and interactive research laboratory focused on studying how cells sense the accumulation of unfolded proteins. The project is focused on studying the role of OncostatinM, Jak2 and Stat5 in myelofibrosis, hematopoiesis, erythropoiesis and iron metabolism. This research will use state of the art techniques, such as mouse bone marrow transplantation, gene transfer, hematological assessment, cell culture and engineering, biochemistry, microscopy and drug testing. This work has broad applications for normal physiology, different pathological situations and drug development.

The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. degree in biochemistry or molecular biology. Expertise should include western blot, molecular biology, using mouse models of human disease and microscopy. A strong publication record is required. The candidate should think creatively, work independently and interact within a highly dynamic group of colleagues, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and strong analytical abilities.

  3. Acquire technical, lab management and grant writing skills
  4. Participate in seminars, lectures, poster sessions and presentation at national meetings
  5. Supervise junior lab members

  • A terminal degree PhD, MD, DVM, etc.
  • According to the CMS (Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services) a copy of diploma or transcript is required as proof of academic achievement for all non-laboratory personnel performing non-waived POC testing
