Job Summary

A postdoctoral fellow position is open in the Kai Tan research group in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Pennsylvania and the Department of Biomedical and Health Informatics (DBHI) at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP).

The Tan research group (http://tanlab4generegulation.org) is interdisciplinary and highly collaborative, utilizing both computational and experimental approaches to study gene regulation. We have pioneered multiple computational algorithms for regulatory genomics, epigenomics, and network biology. Specific areas of research for the postdoc position include the followings: 1) regulatory genomics; 2) cancer systems biology; and 3) algorithms for single-cell data analysis.

Based on the candidate’s background and interest, specific projects will be defined by the candidate with input from Dr. Tan.


The desired candidate must have a PhD degree in computational biology, genetics, molecular biology, computer science, statistics, mathematics or related field with a strong understanding of biology. An established track record (as evidenced by publications in peer-viewed journals) in relevant field is required.

  • A terminal degree PhD, MD, DVM, etc.
  • According to the CMS (Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services) a copy of diploma or transcript is required as proof of academic achievement for all non-laboratory personnel performing non-waived POC testing
