Job Summary

A post-doctoral fellow position is available in the laboratory of Sarah Henrickson MD/PhD, within the Division of Allergy Immunology at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Our laboratory studies T cell immunometabolic dysfunction in human disease.  In this position, candidates will have the opportunity to apply a range of cellular immunology techniques, including flow cytometry, mass cytometry (CyTOF), transcriptomics (RNA-seq), microbiome analysis, metabolomics and mitochondrial function to these questions.  A systems immunology approach will be taken to the analysis of this data, in order to develop mechanistic hypotheses of human immune dysfunction.  We then will test those hypotheses in human cells and in relevant mouse models of disease.

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:
 The applicant will be responsible for the development, optimization, and execution of relevant assays, and application of immunological and genomic techniques in human cells and model systems to assess potential mechanisms of immunological disease.  The candidate will need to function independently, under the general guidance of the principal investigator, and as part of a team, to use a range of molecular and immunological techniques to study the impact of immunometabolic alterations on T cell function.  They will participate in the writing of project plans, publications and contributing to managing project efforts. With seniority they will help to supervise and mentor research members (students and/or technicians).



REQUIREMENTS: Candidates should have or soon have a PhD in immunology, cell and molecular biology or related fields.  Competitive candidates will have experience in flow cytometry, RNA-seq  and translational immunology. Ideally, candidates will have experience with CyTOF and systems immunology analytic techniques. Project leadership experience and excellent communication and organizational skills are fundamental to this position. Salary is competitive and will depend upon qualifications and previous training.  Institutional assistance obtaining a visa to work in the United States is available.  Applicants from backgrounds underrepresented in biomedical research are especially encouraged to apply.

-Experience with mouse models and animal husbandry desired; willingness to work with mouse models preferred. 

-Must have the ability to interact with an interdisciplinary group including disease area biologists, chemists, data analysts, laboratory biologists, and computer scientists.

-Excellent oral, written, interpersonal and organizational skills required, together with a pro-active attitude and enthusiasm for working in a collaborative team environment.

Required Education and Experience
  • A terminal degree PhD, MD, DVM, etc.
  • According to the CMS (Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services) a copy of diploma or transcript is required as proof of academic achievement for all non-laboratory personnel performing non-waived POC testing

Additional Technical Requirements
