Post-doctoral Fellows

The laboratory of Dr. Mustafa Mir lab at CHOP and Penn (starting in January 2021) has openings for multiple post-doc positions. The Mir lab develops and applies advanced light microscopy methods to study the molecular scale dynamics of how gene expression is regulated during early embryonic development. We are deeply interested in the relationship between nuclear organization and how this organization both shapes and is shaped by gene expression during embryonic patterning (see www.mir-lab.com).

 Our research is highly interdisciplinary and as such we are open to postdocs from a variety of backgrounds.

We have opportunities to apply advanced microscopy methods to study transcription regulation and nuclear organization in developing embryos / develop new advanced microscopy / develop new ways to analyze large imaging datasets / combinations of the above and more! 


As such we are especially interested in individuals with one or more of the following attributes: (1) experience applying quantitative fluorescence microscopy methods (ideally in a developmental biology context). (2) experience building and/or designing microscopy hardware. (3) Experience with processing and analyzing large imaging datasets. (4) Drosophila genetics.   1. Conduct independent scholarly research and develop new methods and protocols
  2. Participate in project planning, recording and evaluation of data
  3. Acquire technical, lab management and grant writing skills
  4. Participate in seminars, lectures, poster sessions and presentation at national meetings
  5. Supervise junior lab members
  6. Assist with other research projects

  • A terminal degree PhD, MD, DVM, etc.
  • According to the CMS (Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services) a copy of diploma or transcript is required as proof of academic achievement for all non-laboratory personnel performing non-waived POC testing
