Job Summary

The Marks laboratory seeks self-motivated post-doctoral applicants to join the lab’s NIH-funded efforts on the biogenesis of melanosomes, the pigment-producing organelles in skin and ocular melanocytes. Our lab at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania employs cellular models of rare genetic diseases and collaborative efforts with mouse and human geneticists to dissect vesicular trafficking processes and transmembrane transporter function during the maturation of melanosomes and other cell type-specific organelles. Available projects include mechanistic analyses of BLOC function in membrane trafficking to and from melanosomes (using cellular models of Hermansky-Pudlak syndrome), mechanisms of organellar pH control by the products of oculocutaneous albinism genes and their interactors, and functional dissection of the products of novel human pigmentation genes. Successful applicants will have a Ph.D. in cell/ molecular biology or related fields and a strong background in cell biology, molecular biology, protein biochemistry, cellular physiology, and/or cutting-edge microscopy.   • A terminal degree PhD, MD, DVM, etc.
  • According to the CMS (Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services) a copy of diploma or transcript is required as proof of academic achievement for all non-laboratory personnel performing non-waived POC testing

Additional Technical Requirements
