Res Post Doc Fellow - Division of Infectious Disease- Dr. Vella

Philadelphia, PA, US, 19104

Job Type:

Location: LOC_3440_MKT-3440 Market Street

Req ID: 83671

Shift: Days

Employment Status: Regular - Full Time

Job Summary

A postdoctoral fellow position is open in the Vella  laboratory in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and within the Institute for Immunology at the the University of Pennsylvania. We are a human immunology laboratory that applies high dimensional approaches to understand and improve humoral immunity and vaccine responses in settings of immune dysregulation. The long term goal of the laboratory is to enhance our ability to measure and modulate human immune function in settings of immune disequilibrium, such as in chronic infection and transplantation; to inform a mechanistic understanding of human immunology; and, ultimately, to improve clinical care.

This position would advance the postdoctoral fellow in the areas of translational research, high dimensional flow cytometry (spectral and conventional), as well as bulk and single cell sequencing -- all with an expectation that the fellow would have or desire to gain bioinformatic analysis experience. Two example projects are as follows: (1) Dynamics of T follicular helper cell (Tfh) reconstitution and subsequent vaccine response after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and chemotherapy. (2) Transcriptional and epigenetic regulation of Tfh dysfunction in HIV.

A competitive candidate will have a strong background in flow cytometry, immunology, and/or sequencing work with an eagerness to tackle new challenges. The lab strives for a driven and collaborative culture. CHOP postdoctoral fellows receive mentored training in a rich scientific environment that includes both CHOP and University of Pennsylvania research communities, functioning as one contiguous campus. Postdocs in the lab will have opportunities to collaborate with internationally recognized scientists at CHOP and the University of Pennsylvania, as well as externally.

Interested candidates please send a CV along with a cover letter stating research interests, qualifications, and references to Dr. Vella (vellal@email.chop.edu).
