Job Summary

Postdoctoral Position in the Genetics of Neurodevelopmental Disease

A new position is available for a postdoctoral fellow in the Lefebvre laboratory at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP).
The fellow will study mechanisms underlying Lamb-Shaffer syndrome, a neurodevelopmental syndrome characterized by global developmental delay, intellectual disability and other variable features. The disease is caused by de novo heterozygous variants in the SOX5 gene. As a member of the family of SRY-related transcription factors, SOX5 ciritically contributes to determining cell fate and differentiation in many processes, including neocorticogenesis, but its precise actions and modes of regulation remain poorly understood. The fellow will use mouse models, high-throughput sequencing assays and other cutting-edge approaches to fill knowledge gaps. His/her findings are expected to reveal how SOX5 haploinsufficiency causes Lamb-Shaffer syndrome and to suggest options for therapeutic interventions.
Candidates must have a recent Ph.D. degree in biological sciences, a solid publication record, strong verbal and written communication skills, first-rate interpersonal and organizational skills, and expertise in such areas as genetic regulation, neuroscience, stem cell biology, and mouse models.

CHOP offers an exceptionally interactive and front-line research environment with state-of-the-art core facilities and various career-development programs. It recognizes the power of a diverse community and encourages applications from individuals with varied experiences, perspectives, and backgrounds.
Interested candidates should send a CV, description of research interests and career goals, and contact information for three references to Dr. Veronique Lefebvre (
