Job Summary

Collect, review, enter, report and maintain in an accurate and timely manner, information which allows the Department of Pharmacy and Patient Safety to monitor and assess the quality of care being provided to our patient population. Ensuring that patient care is in compliance with quality and safety standards and providing essential documentation of these interventions.

Job Responsibilities

Data Collection & Documentation 

  • Extracts pharmacy medication safety iVents from Epic Willow utilizing Business Objects; reviews, summarizes and enters relevant interventions into CHOP’s KAPS patient safety monitoring and reporting system to support improvements in the medication use process   
  • Obtains and scans patient consents for selected inpatient medication therapies into the Pharmacy consent database ensuring timely availability for Order Verification and Clinical Pharmacy staff
  • Using Business Objects, other data collection tools or forms; obtains, collates and documents designated data to support monitoring of departmental metrics for quality and process improvement initiatives  


  • Prepares and distributes weekly Epic iVents report to specified Pharmacy, Unit-based and Patient Safety stakeholders    
  • Compiles, maintains and distributes requested reports to monitor Pharmacy department QA or process improvement activities

Required Education and Experience

Required Education: 

  • Associate degree 

Required Experience: 

  • At least one (1) experience within a healthcare environment

Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic

Preferred Education: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in science or healthcare related field

Preferred Experience: 

  • Experience in Medical records interpretation

Preferred Certification:

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician

Additional Technical Requirements

  • Must possess strong oral and written communication skills 
  • Ability to interact as a team member with cross functional groups
  • Understanding of medical terminology
  • Understanding of the significance of clinical data
  • Respect for patient data confidentiality
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Access, Excel, Word)
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to function independently

To carry out its mission, it is of critical importance for the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) to keep our patients, families and workforce safe and healthy and to support the health of our global community. In keeping with this, CHOP has mandated all workforce members on site at any CHOP location for any portion of their time be vaccinated for COVID-19. This mandate also applies to workforce members performing work for CHOP at non-CHOP locations. The CHOP COVID-19 vaccine mandate is in alignment with applicable local, state and federal mandates.

CHOP also requires all workforce members who work in patient care buildings or who provide patient care to receive an annual influenza vaccine. Employees may request exemption consideration for CHOP vaccine requirements for valid religious and medical reasons.

Please note start dates may be delayed until candidates are fully immunized or valid exemption requests are reviewed. In addition, candidates other than those in positions with regularly scheduled hours in New Jersey, must attest to not using tobacco products.
