Job Summary

As a member of the Adolescent Initiative, an HIV prevention and care program, the position will serve as the primary point of contact for community partners and other CHOP departments to provide education about HIV prevention and treatment studies, as well as programming. The Outreach and Recruitment coordinator will attend community events, join boards and committees, and engage youth and community partners to serve on AI advisory committees. S/he will have the capacity to screen participants at CHOP sites and in the field. S/he uses social media expertly as a recruitment and education tool. All other responsibilities as assigned.  



The ideal candidate will...

1. Coordinate and facilitate outreach efforts, including social and health events for youth, advisory and committee meetings with youth and community partners, perform presentations to educate about our studies and programs.
2. Assist with preparation and dissemination of outreach materials in collaboration with other AI staff
3. Assist with establishment and management of outreach partnerships with those interested Adolescent Initiative projects.
4. Assist with implementation of strategic plan to engage community partners, study participants and youth advisors.
5. Create and maintain social media presence for studies and programs.
6. Conducts outreach in the field at events and partner sites.
7. Consents and screens study participants.


Job Responsibilities

  1. Coordinate and facilitate outreach efforts, including screenings of the Hilleman film and related events and events related to the educational modules, such as focus groups, exhibits and presentations
  2. Assist with preparation and dissemination of publicity in collaboration with project contractors, outreach partners and VMP team members
  3. Assist with establishment and management of outreach partnerships with those interested in using VMP assets
  4. Assist with implementation of strategic plan to engage teachers/educators
  5. Develop ideas for additional VMP assets based on experiences and feedback from outreach partners and past events

Required Education and Experience

  • BA/BS in liberal arts, communications, marketing, or public relations.     

Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic

Experience in public relations, communications and/or non-profit, public or consumer health, cause-related marketing a plus, but not required.


Additional Technical Requirements

  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking and time management skills a must
  • Strong interpersonal communications skills, including interaction with a variety of stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Some travel required
  • Facility with Microsoft Office software
  • Experience with news writing, copy-editing, fact-checking will be valued
