Job Summary

Our ability to treat childhood cancer has improved in leaps and bounds over the past four decades; as a result, 80% of children with cancer today will be cured.  However, cancer therapy is complex and intensive.  Managing safe delivery of treatment and reducing side effects from the disease and therapy require both well-designed processes and the ability to improve continuously based on understanding the impact of current practice.  Importantly, safe delivery of care depends on the ability to use data to inform best practices. The Division of Oncology at CHOP is expanding our clinical informatics team to more efficiently harness the many streams of data generated during care of our patients in order to achieve this goal.  The Oncology Clinical Informatics Research Assistant will join a multidisciplinary team that focuses on managing data flows, expanding quality measurement and quality improvement work, and facilitating access to clinical data for care planning and clinical research. The research assistant will be responsible for tracking data flows and requests, providing support for research protocols and process development, performing medical record review as needed, and assisting with data collection and integration. If commensurate with skillset, the research assistant will also perform database queries and assist in data cleaning and visualization.
