Job Summary


The CTIS Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant practices within their scope of practice and under the guidelines of the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery. In collaboration with the CTIS Physician Director and Assistant Director, the CTIS Nurse Practitioner/ Physician Assistant provides direct and indirect clinical care and follow up for patients referred to CTIS for complex chest and spine abnormalities. Responsibilities include performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures – within the scope of practice and as approved by Medical Staff Affairs.


The CTIS Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant supports the CTIS RN Program Manager with program development, program management, patient family education, care coordination, professional development

Job Responsibilities

  1. Utilize advanced skills and knowledge of pediatric spine care  to assist with clinical management and to provide education for  patients/ families, clinical providers and specialists involved in the care of the patients with thoracic insufficiency and  early onset spinal deformity.  
  2. In conjunction with the CTIS RN Program Manager develops, maintains, and expands intake mechanism  for  CTIS patient referrals.
  3. In conjunction with the CTIS RN Program Manager provide education and support  for  patients/ families, clinical providers and specialists involved in the care of the CTIS patient.
  4. Assist CTIS Directors in program development and growth, assessment of internal and external resources for CTIS, constraints for long term growth, current and projected service analysis, documentation criteria, educational development, and program evaluation.

Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations

Registered nurse license in state(s) with jurisdiction over practice location.

Licensure for advanced practice role in state(s) with jurisdiction over practice location

Certificate of Prescriptive Authority in state(s) with jurisdiction over practice location to be obtained within the first 90 days of employment

National Certification as a Nurse Practitioner in area of education/subspecialty. Required certification must match scope of practice for that practice area.

Required Education and Experience

Required Education: 

Master’s or doctorate degree from an ACEN and/or CCNE accredited graduate school of nursing.


Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic


Preferred Experience: At least three years of pediatric experience

Additional Technical Requirements

  • Must have critical analysis and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work collaboratively through consultation with other health care team providers.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English.
  • Ability to perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
