Job Summary

The Medical Writer Nursing Research will provide communication and medical writing support for the Center for Pediatric Nursing Research & Evidence-Based Practice. The writer will work with Nurse Scientists and clinical staff to compile, write and edit deliverables in support of CHOP’s strategic plan. The writer will establish strong, collaborative relationships across the organization, providing support for various clinical initiatives and projects.

Job Responsibilities
  • Compile, write and edit deliverables (such as articles, abstracts, summaries, posters and presentations—written and verbal) for a wide audience, both internally and externally.
  • Present/translate clinical findings in a clear and concise manner, and professionally represent CHOP to various audiences.
  • In conjunction with leadership, develop training/learning content, video scripts, newsletters, blogs, and/or articles to support clinical strategy and reach various audiences.
  • Manage multiple projects, influencing cross-functional teams, to deliver on time and with a high degree of quality and accuracy.
  • Proactively seek opportunities to promote research aligned with CHOP’s Strategic Plan.
  • Develop and execute strategies to highlight the unique research capabilities of the Center for Pediatric Nursing Research and Evidence-Based Practice and their applications within the clinical environment.
  • Support grant-writing initiatives in collaboration with the Center for Pediatric Nursing Research and Evidence-Based Practice.

Required Education and Experience

Required Education: Master’s Degree


Required Experience:

  • Previous grant writing experience
  • Experience as a Registered Nurse or in a related clinical field
Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic

Preferred Education: PhD

Additional Technical Requirements


  • Demonstrate the ability to interact confidently and sensitively with staff at all levels of the institution and to assist them in promoting CHOP’s research and discoveries.
  • Demonstrate strong collaborative skills and an ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Intermediate proficiency with office software (Microsoft Office)
  • Intermediate proficiency with citation management platforms (End Note)
  • Intermediate knowledge of key practices, regulations, policies and procedures related to grants and/or contracts
  • Basic knowledge of grant budgeting practices
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
