Job Summary

Responsible for leading the Accounts Representatives. Assist Manager in reference to distribution and reviewing of special projects and weekly/daily assignments. Must set a positive example for team members and act as the initial resource for problem solving. Must be able to handle potential stressful situations as well as multiple tasks at one time. Must be a positive role model for staff members and work with them to promote teamwork and cooperation. Must work with their team to continually improve accuracy and efficiency. The Lead person while assuming this role will also continue to maintain the expected measures and standards of an Account Representative.

Job Responsibilities

 

  1. Responsible for distribution and auditing of weekly/daily/monthly work.
  • Review daily work queues for possible reassignment of daily duties.
  • Inform Manager/Revenue Cycle of any discrepancies related to billing and/or insurance companies on a weekly or immediate basis when a crisis may arise.
  • Informs management of any payer trends reported by team.
  • Responsible for distribution of payer meeting minutes
  • Responsible for special projects. (Distribution, collecting & reviewing)
  • Responsible for creation and distribution of flex schedules.
  • Responsible for ensuring the assigned A/R Representative completes reviews of claims, identifies and researches any problems and forwards to appropriate insurance company.
  1. Responsible for Claim Logic (IT system tool for electronic rejections and edits).
  • Responsible for reviewing claims for rejection, pending or accepted status
  • Rejected claims are to be printed and distributed to team Leads or assigned A/R representative for appropriate follow-up.
  • Responsible for ensuring appropriate action is completed and returned within the same business day.
  • In Claim Logic ensure appropriate action is taken for each claim.  Any issues with claims pending, or remitted are to be reported to the Manager immediately.

3.   Responsible for auditing staff and productivity metrics on a weekly basis.

  • Review IT system reports and report results to Manager
  • Recommend plan of action if needed

4    Responsible for backup among other team Leads

  • All Leads are required to serve as a backup to one another.
  • Will work with other team Leads and Managers in assuring and continuing to improve accuracy, efficiency and completion of assignments. Assist team and management in identifying and resolving A/R issues with payers.

5.   Continue to maintain expected measures and standards of an Account Representative.

6.  In conjunction with Manager participates in staff hiring, disciplinary actions and performance evaluation.

  • Prior to disciplinary action and performance evaluation meet with Manager to review standards, employee performance and develop plan of action if needed

Participates in the interviewing process of hiring new staff

Required Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalency.
  • Minimum of four years billing experience.

Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic

Additional Technical Requirements

  • Clear oral and written communication.
  • Professional telephone etiquette.
  • Able to interact with physicians, patients and co-workers in a professional and helpful manner.
  • Use of billing computer and PC skills.
  • Problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Use of an adding machine.
  • Able to work independently.
