Job Summary

The Unified Communications Supervisor plays a pivotal role in the delivery of voice services within the CHOP hospital system. This individual is a mentor and leader for the junior engineers on the UC team and is critical in providing transformative services, driving collaboration across the organization, and finding new ways to deliver better patient access and engagement at CHOP. Our primary goal is to create the best experience for the patients and families who receive our care and the clinicians who are directly involved in that care delivery. This role is intended for a driven and inspiring technical leader who can marry the technical and business requirements to help the UC team deliver world-class solutions and service. Specifically, this will involve the development of strategy, design, implementation, and support to enhance services related to our Cisco telephony platform. This individual will influence positive change in a clinical environment by leading the day-to-day operations of the team as well as being a coach and mentor to this team of breakthrough makers.

Job Responsibilities

A Supervisory Systems Engineer functions as both subject matter expert and team manager. The responsibilities echo those of a Principal Systems Engineer, but include direct supervision of team members and projects. A Supervisory Systems Engineer also:

  1. Plans and schedules systems engineering activities for highly complex tasks and projects.
  2. Mentors systems specialty engineers in systems engineering processes.
  3. Functions as group spokesperson on critical programs and participates in long-range planning.
  4. Counsels senior management, customer personnel and colleagues on resolving complex technical issues. 
  5. Holds regular team meetings; mentors and conducts periodic performance and salary reviews for support staff.

 

Job Responsibilities (Continued)

The department works 80% remotely, 20% on site in our Philadelphia offices on an as needed basis.  

Required Education and Experience

Required Education: HS Diploma/GED

 

Required Experience:

  • Eight (8) years of experience performing system administration and engineering for one of the following systems or equivalent years in managing the majority of technologies:   Red Hat Linux, UNIX, Windows, IBM, HDS, Citrix, Infrastructure as a service/ Cloud and Virtualization technologies (Xen, Vmware, Microsoft Server)
  • Previous experience implementing and managing large, complex, enterprise class solutions in a global environment. 

Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic

Preferred Experience:

  • Nine (9) or more years of experience performing system administration and engineering for one of the following systems or equivalent years in managing the majority of technologies:   Red Hat Linux, UNIX, Windows, IBM, HDS, Citrix, Infrastructure as a service/ Cloud and Virtualization technologies (Xen, Vmware, Microsoft Server)
  • Senior level experience in developing emerging technology solutions

 

Preferred Licenses/certificates/registrations: Advanced certification in area of concentration
