•    Leads a team that plans, forecasts and implements new technologies of high complexity.
•    Builds and supervises a team of engineers. 
•    Identifies work trends and adjusts personnel to meet demand.
•    Provides internal consulting, technical guidance, information and support to application support teams, IS infrastructure,  management and users
•    Develops and enforces system engineering standards.
•    Effectively documents and communicates designs, results, reports and presentations.
•    Manages changing priorities and appropriately allocates project resources and assesses staffing needs.
•    Demonstrates advanced proficiency in creating detailed documentation and project plans.
•    Reviews, develops and documents system level operational and engineering concepts and mission statements.
•    Coaches and mentors Level III staff and peers with differing detailed knowledge.
•    Performs all duties related to the annual review process.
•    Is responsible for scheduling, assigning work, reviewing the technical adequacy of work products, meeting cost and schedule for assigned group and interface coordination with other groups.
•    Develops standards
•    Seeks opportunities for improvement and proposes/champions change

Job Responsibilities

A Supervisory Systems Engineer functions as both subject matter expert and team manager. The responsibilities echo those of a Principal Systems Engineer, but include direct supervision of team members and projects. A Supervisory Systems Engineer also:
1.    Leads team that supports current virtualization and cloud services and assists with implementation of new technologies of high complexity.
2.    Participates in virtualization and cloud services operations and support.
3.    Participates in on call rotation and acts as an escalation point.
4.    Plans and schedules systems engineering activities for highly complex tasks and projects.
5.    Mentors systems specialty engineers in systems engineering processes.
6.    Functions as group spokesperson on critical programs and participates in long-range planning.
7.    Counsels senior management, customer personnel and colleagues on resolving complex technical issues. 
8.    Holds regular team meetings; mentors and conducts periodic performance and salary reviews for support staff.
9.    Visio and PowerPoint skills a plus.
10.    Ability to develop SOW requirements and analyze proposals.
11.    Has strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with team members, management, customers, and support personnel.



Job Responsibilities (Continued)

The Virtualization and Cloud Services Supervisor will also be responsible for supporting some combination of the following:  


•    Understanding of general networking concepts:
  o    TCP/IP
  o    WAN concepts (types of provider offerings/circuit types)
  o    Data center / DMZ / edge architecture
  o    Firewalls
  o    Load balancers
•    Directory services (including Azure AD)
•    Experience with and working knowledge of as many of the following:
  o    PowerShell
  o    Ansible
  o    Git
  o    Kubernetes
  o    Docker
  o    vRa
  o    vRops
  o    Python

Required Education and Experience
  • Advanced certification in area of concentration required
  • 8-10+  years of experience performing system administration and engineering for one of the following systems or equivalent years in managing the majority of technologies:   Red Hat Linux, UNIX, Windows, IBM, HDS, Citrix, Infrastructure as a service/ Cloud and Virtualization technologies (Xen, Vmware, Microsoft Server)
  • Senior level experience in developing emerging technology solutions will be considered along side of technology experience listed above.
  • Extensive track record implementing and managing large, complex, enterprise class solutions in a global environment.
