Job Summary

The Systems Engineer I will be responsible for performing primary tasks for the MS Exchange messaging system including technical support, problem resolution, evaluation, guidance and recommendations for short and long-term strategies. This position is also responsible for Microsoft server administration to include monitoring server status, troubleshooting issues with client connectivity and response time.


The right candidate will have a background in HP and Cisco UC hardware as well as AWS and Azure cloud services. Knowledge of supporting hypervisors from VMWare, Citrix as well as operating system support of Windows and Linux.  Working knowledge of supporting Microsoft O365, Microsoft Exchange and Skype is a must.


The candidate will understand how to participate in complex infrastructure projects including, requirements gathering, designing, planning, presentation, documentation, communication and implementation. Candidate will have opportunities to work with a wide range of cutting-edge software and hardware technologies. 

Job Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities:
•    Perform maintenance of the VMware Hypervisor, operating system and UC application layers. 
•    Performs operating system maintenance on Microsoft and Linux servers.
•    Performs maintenance on Microsoft Exchange and Skype servers
•    Works with Senior Engineers on design projects   
•    Maintain and update MS Exchange documentation, network, server and voice network diagrams and vendor information for devices 
•    Work with Third Party Providers to assist in problem resolution of server and telecommunication problems. 
•    Plan and test server software and hardware upgrades.
•    Perform basic configuration and installation of hardware and software
•    Perform software and firmware upgrades on multiple hardware platforms
•    Prepare client documentation including Job Aids, Questionnaires, Implementation Plans and post implementation documentation

•    Experience with virtualization services such as VMWare, managing VMWare hosts in an Enterprise environment and related components such as vCenter, DRS and SRM.
•    Manage Active Directory services on Windows Server 2012 R2 and 2016
•    Understanding of Microsoft collaboration stack including Office 365, Azure AD Connect, & SharePoint.
•    Experience conducting and supporting O365 migrations, authentication and identity management
•    Knowledge of cloud services from AWS, Azure and Google.
•    Experience managing and remediating Active Directory, and migrating on-premises AD to Azure Active Directory
•    Basic understanding of Microsoft networking technology including Domains, Trusts, Active Directory sites, Security, DDNS, IIS, Kerberos, LDAP, DHCP, Kerberos, GPO, DFS, File Shares, SharePoint and Office 365.  
•    Moderate to advanced systems scripting skills, VBscipt, powershell, etc.
•    Strong planning and organizational skills necessary to prioritize and coordinate workload within a multiple project setting
•    Proficient interpersonal skills necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships
•    Proficient verbal and written communication skills

Required Education and Experience


  • 1-5 years of experience performing system administration and engineering for one of the following systems red hat linux, UNIX, Windows, IBM, HDS, Citrix, Infrastructure as a service/ Cloud and Virtualization technologies (XenApp, Vmware, Microsoft Server)
  • Bachelor's degree or relevant experience will be considered in lieu of formal education

Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic

  • Certification within concentration preferred (AWS, VMware Vsphere , MCSE or MSCA)

Additional Technical Requirements

Windows Concentration:   Exposure to information processing principles, practices and demonstrated experience with troubleshooting and resolving Microsoft technology problems and errors. Some experience with scripting and automating execution of configuration and data collection tasks utilizing tools and languages such as VB-Script, WMI, ADSI, Power Shell or similar tools. Some  hands-on expertise with, Win  Server, Active Directory, other Microsoft BackOffice products and Server virtualization. Demonstrates understanding of MS Windows O/S networking technology including Domains, Trusts, Active Directory sites, Security, DHCP, DDNS, IIS, ISA. Knowledge of Kerberos protocol client-server exchange.
