Job Summary

The Supervisor - Platform Engineering:  

  1. Leads team in planning, forecast and implement new technologies of high complexity.
  2. Builds and supervises a team of engineers to provide skill set needed. 
  3. Identifies work trends and adjusting personnel to meet demand.
  4. Provides internal consulting, technical guidance, information and support to application support teams, IS infrastructure, management and users.
  5. Develops and enforces system engineering standards.
  6. Represents PE in enforcement of change control.
  7. Manages changing priorities and appropriately allocates project resources and assess staffing needs.
  8. Demonstrates advanced proficiency in creating detailed documentation and project plans.
  9. Reviews, develops and documents system level operational and engineering concepts and mission statements.
  10. Maintains a high level of education in emerging technologies.
  11. Coaches and mentors all levels of staff and peers with differing detailed knowledge.
  12. Schedules, assigns work, reviews the technical adequacy of work products, meeting cost and schedule for assigned group and interface coordination with other groups.
  13. Participates in the forecasting of budgets.
  14. Participates in contract negotiations.

Job Responsibilities

A Supervisory Platform Engineer functions as both subject matter expert and team manager.  The responsibilities echo those of a Principal Platform Engineer, but include direct supervision of team members and projects.  A Supervisory Platform Engineer also:

  1. Plans and schedules systems engineering activities for highly complex tasks and projects.
  2. Mentors engineers in systems engineering processes.
  3. Functions as group spokesperson on critical programs and participates in long-range planning.
  4. Counsels senior management, customer personnel and colleagues on resolving complex technical issues.
  5. Holds regular team meetings; mentors and conducts periodic performance and salary reviews for support staff.
  6. Leads the design & implementation of solutions to deploy and manage desktop/server images.
  7. Leads the design & implementation of solutions to package and deploy applications.
  8. Leads the design & implementation of Active Directory Group Policy Settings to manage desktop and user environments.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree or 7-10 years of job experience.

Extensive (4+ years) experience working in engineering and technical solutions development along with 5-7 years Large enterprise experience, (10000+ users).

1-3  years working in a supervisory position.

Additional Technical Requirements

Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Product lines. Including OS, Forefront, SharePoint, and Exchange. Have a working knowledge of device, OS, and software management strategies.


Information Security Requirements

  1. Understand and comply with all enterprise and IS departmental information security policies, procedures and standards.
  2. Support the integration of information security in the development, design, and implementation of Hospital Technology Resources that process, transmit, or store CHOP information.
  3. Support all compliance activities related to state, federal regulatory requirements, healthcare accreditation standards, and all other applicable regulations that govern the use and disclosure of patient, financial, or other confidential information.
