Job Summary

1.    Contributes to analysis and design for current and emerging technologies within their discipline. 
2.    Provides solutions to promote the effective management and maintenance of client computing environment. 
3.    Manages desktop processes and configuration management utilities based on need, value, and feedback from the technical community. 
4.    Develops innovative solutions using cutting-edge technologies to further automate build process and reduce time from build to deployment.
5.    Responsible for the continual analysis and evolution of current systems. 
6.    Conducts research, and reviews and analyzes existing and emerging technologies. 
7.    Understands all infrastructure technologies and participates in projects across all systems administration disciplines. 
8.    Is directly involved in maintaining and evolving technical processes and mechanisms for building client computers enterprise wide. 
9.    Coaches and trains Level I staff and peers with differing detailed knowledge. 
10.    Assists in the orientation and integration of Level 1 hires. 
11.    Participates in CHOP corporate and IS processes including, but not limited to, work flow, project management, time accounts and employee reviews.

Job Responsibilities

The responsibilities of a Platform Engineer II encompass identical responsibilities as a Platform Engineer I, but with a greater degree of complexity. A Platform Engineer II also:

1.    Builds, enhances, and maintains a management and support methodology for large volume Windows deployments, including image management and software distribution within SCCM.
2.    Creates completely automated installation packages (software repackaging, App-V, MSXI) for shrink-wrap, home-grown, vendor, and other applications.
3.    Works with appropriate teams to develop standards and policies that will be enforced and delivered via Active Directory and Group Policy Management.
4.    Works in a team of Windows Engineers responsible for architecture, design, implementation, and maintenance of Windows Desktop/Server environment. 
5.    Represents Platform Engineering on various projects (PMO, Operational, and Special projects).
6.    Provides 3rd level technical support and provides training and documentation for 1st level support to helpdesk.
7.    Keeps abreast of current technical developments in systems related technology topics. 
8.    Provides application installation and integration guidance to the Development staff.
9.    Evaluates and recommends new products for use in the desktop/server/application space.

Required Education and Experience

1.    At least 3 years’ experience working with Windows infrastructure/administration.
2.    At least 3 years’ experience working with imaging solutions such as OSD, MDT, etc.
3.    At least 3 years’ experience working with software packaging tools such as App-V, AdminStudio, ORCA, etc.
4.    At least 3 years’ experience working with scripting languages such as PowerShell, VBScript, etc.

Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic

1.    Microsoft Certified Professional preferred.
2.    Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager Certification (2016) preferred.

Additional Technical Requirements

1.    Knowledge of Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop is a plus.
2.    Knowledge of Office 365 Deployment/Management is a plus.
3.    Knowledge of Azure/Intune is a plus.
4.    Knowledge of EPIC is a plus.
5.    Knowledge of ServiceNow is a plus.

  1. Understand and comply with all enterprise and IS departmental information security policies, procedures and standards.
  2. Support the integration of information security in the development, design, and implementation of Hospital Technology Resources that process, transmit, or store CHOP information.
  3. Support all compliance activities related to state, federal regulatory requirements, healthcare accreditation standards, and all other applicable regulations that govern the use and disclosure of patient, financial, or other confidential information.
