Job Summary

The Center for Data-Driven Discovery in Biomedicine (D3b - d3b.center) is seeking a product-oriented technical business analyst to understand, intersect, and organize user and business requirements in data-driven biomedical research. Your work will inform and empower the rapid development of software and data products and platforms that accelerate advancements in child health. Successful candidates are creative technical problems solvers that excel in working with interdisciplinary teams and gaining domain specific knowledge to create robust data solutions. This role requires strong communication skills to effectively work and translate between key stakeholders and technical teams. Work with key stakeholders includes defining best practices, processes, milestones and goals as part of new data initiatives. Work with the technical teams includes collaboratively developing specifications, shepherding tickets, and reviewing implementations. Knowledge of the clinical and biomedical data domains, models and terminology (especially in oncology) is preferred, but not required, more important is a sense of curiosity and a desire to learn about these topics. 

Job Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include: 
1.    Actively meet and communicate with stakeholders and users to elicit, analyze and document business, functional and usability requirements and processes.
2.    Work on concurrent projects and work with a reasonable degree of autonomy in support of team initiatives
3.    Participate in sprint planning with technical teams to inform specifications and priorities
4.    Creating testing/acceptance plans and provide feedback on implementation 
5.    Monitor effectiveness of current practices and identify areas for improvement, automation and innovation
6.    May be required to travel to various locations to interact with external stakeholders, such as research collaborators, users, and patient advocates
 

Required Education and Experience

Required Education: Bachelors of/in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or other Health Care related field

 

Required Experience: At least one (1) year of relevant experience within a healthcare environment

Additional Technical Requirements

Working knowledge of data intensive application design, especially aspects information and data modeling 
Working knowledge of data interchange formats, e.g. JSON, XML and web APIs  
Working knowledge of scrum and agile development processes
Python and SQL experience preferred
Amazon Web Services experience preferred
Excellent oral, presentation, and written communication skills.
