Job Summary

The Food Pharmacy Manager is the primary employee and main point of contact for the Healthy Weight Food Pharmacy.  An initiative designed to help provide additional resources for the patient population of the Healthy Weight Program, the manager is responsible for the management and organization of the Food Pharmacy.  This role will hold the responsibility of being the advocate and champion of the pharmacy within the Healthy Weight Program and the greater CHOP community.  Responsibilities will include creation and maintenance of promotional materials, food pharmacy inventory, and various other processes and relationships integral to the pharmacy’s development and growth. 

Job Responsibilities

Community Outreach

  • Initiate and Maintain relationships with community food pantries
  • Initiate and Maintain business relationships with those identified as donors to the Pharmacy
  • Work with Healthy Weight Community team to create and pilot classes related to the Food Pharmacy, including educational opportunities related to healthy lifestyle changes
  • Plays an integral role in educating the greater CHOP community about the food pharmacy and resources available to patients         
  • Other duties as assigned as pharmacy evolves

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Supervisory duties for volunteers identified to help with Pharmacy food maintenance
  • In conjunction with the Healthy Weight Behavioral Health team, help maintain and identify resources for food insecure patients and families.
  • With the larger Healthy Weight Team, work to identify food insecure patients appropriate for the Food Pharmacy
  • Responsible for managing, leading, and participating in Quality Assurance initiatives for the pharmacy, including but not limited to pre and post survey result tabulations
  • Involvement in Research Initiatives related to the Pharmacy
  • Other duties as assigned as pharmacy evolves

Operational Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing Patient flow through the Pharmacy, including but not limited to reconciliation of food insecure patient records, maintaining class censuses and creating processes for the pharmacy
  • Responsible for creation and maintenance of Pharmacy policies and procedures
  • Responsible for identifying and troubleshooting any implementation errors as the pharmacy grows and goes live
  • Responsible for ordering and maintaining food pharmacy product inventory and coordinating with RD lead on food management
  • Other duties as assigned as pharmacy evolves

Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations

ServSafe Certification, or able to obtain this certification within 6 months of placement into position.

Required Education and Experience

 

Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree

Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic

Preferred Experience: Experience with food insecure populations and food pantry management

  • Ability to interact in a professional manner with patients, families, and visitors who may be under stress
