Job Summary

Under the direction of the Art Director, responsible for ensuring branding compliance throughout the Research Institute, customer satisfaction, good workflow, and excellent communication between the staff and the researchers.  Contributes to individual projects per his/her area of creative talents. Responsible for design projects including poster design & production, postings, fliers, brochures, study recruitment collateral, enhanced graphs & figures for grants, Power Point Presentations and more enhanced multimedia presentations, website design/support, and image research, creation, and manipulation. Also responsible for accepting job orders from researchers, ensuring detailed and accurate descriptions of the requested services, facilitating timely and accurate communication between customers, Art Director and staff, creating and maintaining schedules, project management, and managing workflow for assigned projects. 

Preferred applicant:

Minimum Associates Degree from an accredited art school, college or university, Bachelor’s a plus.

Promising student or professional portfolio of work.

 

Preferred Technical Skills:

Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud – specifically the design suite (Acrobat, Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Video and audio experience a plus.

Understanding of MAC operating system

Job Responsibilities

Design and execute all creative needs requested from internal clients.

Develop and produce scientific posters for display at conferences as well as internal Research Institute events

Create original images and designs, as well as conduct image research, manipulation and enhancement of images for all output (print/web)

Enhance basic graphs and figures for researchers

Design electronic presentations through PowerPoint to present research information using design techniques to enhance the overall message

Support web team members with the development of sites for researchers including graphic/image assistance

Maintain and customize study recruitment collateral for clients

Produces graphic sketches, wireframes, designs, and copy layouts for online content

Determines size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy, select style and size of type, and arranges layout based upon available space, knowledge of layout principles, and aesthetic design concepts

Receiving job orders from e-mail and the Web site storefront

Create schedule and track all jobs from initial contact to completion via project management system

Responsible for ensuring quality control of all creative output

Meet with clients to discuss, in great detail, creative requests

 

Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations
None
Required Education and Experience

Required Education: Associates degree

 

Required Experience: One (1) year of graphic design experience.

Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic

Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree

 

Preferred Experience: 

  • Three (3) year of graphic design experience.
Additional Technical Requirements
  • Advanced proficiency with graphic design software (Acrobat, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop)
  • Advanced proficiency with presentation software (PowerPoint)
  • Intermediate proficiency with office software (Microsoft Office) including word processing, and spreadsheet, software (Word, Excel)
  • Intermediate proficiency with font management software (Suitcase)
  • Intermediate proficiency with file compression software (Stuffit)
  • Intermediate proficiency with Macintosh operating systems (maOS)
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills 
  • Strong critical thinking / problem-solving skills
  • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels
