Job Summary

The Graphic Designer will be responsible for bringing Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s brand, stories, experiences and marketing campaigns to life. The designer will create projects across print, digital media, web, video, experience and premiums.  As a member of the creative team you will work side-by-side with your account management, consumer insights, digital strategy, project management and PR teammates.  Will partner with copy writers from ideation to execution to launch.  The designers needs to be up to date on technology, design standards and trends - prior experience with audio recording specifically for podcasts is preferred. Their designs will be fresh, modern and inspire the viewer. The designer will look to always elevate the brand and bring the copy to life in new and beautiful ways.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design for any medium. Web. Print. Digital. Premiums. Wearables.
  • Attend project kick-off meetings to learn the intended outcome of the work and clarify direction.
  • Take direction and contribute to the success of the end product.
  • Assist other team designers in the designing or production of work already in progress.
  • Conduct image searches.
  • Manage the design needs for our CME client.

Job Responsibilities (Continued)

  • Designs for any medium: print, digital media, wed, video, experience and premiums. 
  • Attends project kick-off meetings and follows creative and/or project briefs
  • Takes direction from creative supervisor on independent projects as well as assists other designers with their projects.
  • Conducts image searches, sets photo style, works with photographers and attends shoots
  • Multi-tasks projects while hitting individual project deadlines
  • Brainstorms conceptual ideas and campaigns that are clever, emotional and forward thinking with their copy partner
  • Detail-oriented, attentive and accurate
  • Understands the ways marketing helps clients achieve their goals
  • Exhibits a genuine interest in advertising and is eager to learn and ask questions

Required Education and Experience

Required Education: Associates degree

Required Experience: One (1) year of graphic design experience.

Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic

Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree from a four year university or art school with a focus on design.

Preferred Experience: At least three (3) years of professional experience

  • Marketing agency or inhouse marketing department experience
  • Hands on photo and video shoot experience
  • Web and UX design experience
  • Branding experience
  • Digital illustration experience
  • Audio/Visual experience
  • Motion graphics experience

Additional Technical Requirements

  • Strong design aptitude as demonstrated by portfolio
  • Indepth knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite:, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and bridge
  • Advanced proficiency with presentation software (PowerPoint or Keynote)
  • Intermediate proficiency with office software (Microsoft Office) 
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills 
  • Strong critical thinking / problem-solving skills
  • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels
  • Digital, Web, Print and Video marketing experience
  • Digital or online portfolio of work and case studies across full range of print, digital and video mediums to be utilized in interview process

 

Preferred knowledge and skills: 

  • Knowledge of podcasting, audio recording equipment and set-up, and audio editing via Adobe Audition
  • Knowledge of one email software like Salesforce, Mailchimp, Constant Contact, etc 

To carry out its mission, it is of critical importance for the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) to keep our patients, families and workforce safe and healthy and to support the health of our global community.
