Job Summary

Job Responsibilities

Responsible for independently performing any combination of the following:  ultrasonic imaging, providing preliminary interpretation, assisting in transthoracic or transesophageal echocardiography, and monitoring the patient’s cardiopulmonary status for the duration of the examination.  Responsible for the overall maintenance of the medical equipment in the echo lab and its ancillary sites as well as completion of echocardiograms, preliminary interpretation, teaching, and complete billing procedures.  These tasks are performed in accordance with the policies and procedures of the laboratories and the direction of the Program Director of the echo lab.

Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations

RDCS - Reg Diag Cardiac Sonographers

Required Education and Experience

Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited cardiovascular program preferably with a minimum of an associate degree in cardiovascular science or 15 years of experience in cardiac ultrasound

Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic

Registry candidate preferred

Additional Technical Requirements

  1. Performs echocardiograms, provides preliminary interpretations, and completes all forms and billing.

  2. Responsible for the well-being of the patient
  3. Able to work  with technical staff in maintaining medical equipment
  4. Assists with receptionist duties when needed
  5. Keeps abreast of new technologies
  6. Contributing author on one abstract or manuscript per year
