Job Summary

This role provides oversight of the clinical practice, quality improvement, project management and day to day operations for Diabetes Educators.

Job Responsibilities
  • Oversee CDE clinical practice in collaboration with advanced practice nurse manager. 
  • Maintain a clinical practice providing self-management education to patients with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes.
  • Participate in reviews of program, system and patient outcomes to make program changes using data including volume, revenue, safety, outcomes, and satisfaction.
  • Serve on the Diabetes Executive Committee, providing insight and direction for diabetes education programming, both annually and long-term.
  • Maintain systems for American Diabetes Association center of excellence recognition.
  • Maintain business relationships with diabetes technology industry partnerships.
  • Perform certified diabetes educator job duties as required.
Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations
RN or LDN - PA
Certification as a Diabetes Educator through the American Diabetes Association required or CDE eligible with expectation of successful credentialing within 12 months of hire.
Required Education and Experience

Required Education: Bachelor of Science


Required Experience:


  • One (1) year of experience managing patients on insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitoring systems 
Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic

Preferred Experience:

  • One (1) year of clinical experience with pediatric patients.                           
  • One (1) year of supervisory or management experience in a clinical
Additional Technical Requirements
  • Intermediate proficiency with electronic medical record software (EPIC)
  • Expertise in assisting families with making diabetes program decisions including:
    • Dietary / carbohydrate intake and insulin use: CHO rations, correction factors
    • Insulin adjustment for MDI, Basal Bolus programs and insulin pump therapy
    • Exercise and activity planning using carbohydrate / insulin adjustments
  • Expertise in continuous glucose monitoring systems including operation, sensor devices insertion and downloading / interpretation of monitoring data
  • Expertise in insulin pumps therapy
