Job Summary

The Minds Matter Frontier Concussion Program at CHOP is seeking an experienced, independent Program Manager to serve on the Program’s leadership team with Drs. Christina Master and Kristy Arbogast.  The Minds Matter Program seeks to learn from every child that we care for and rapidly translate cutting-edge research to improve the diagnosis and treatment of concussion to optimize individual outcomes.  Be part of the leading concussion care center in the region and help lead a robust translational research and clinical trial capacity embedded in various clinical settings with diverse patient populations.  The Program Manager will be responsible for overseeing all clinical research studies for the Minds Matter Concussion Program, by providing leadership and ensuring implementation of Program activities, providing broad oversight of Program personnel, providing project and programmatic budget development and management and working collaboratively within CHOP to accomplish Program goals.  Come be part of this exciting team and shape the future of concussion research at CHOP! https://www.research.chop.edu/minds-matter-concussion-program

Job Responsibilities (Continued)

  • Provide a leadership role in developing, implementing, and evaluating the conduct of clinical research
  • Recruit, hire and provide indirect and direct supervision and support for the Project Manager, Research Coordinators, Research Assistants, students, and other study staff to ensure compliance with study protocols, project aims, and sponsor guidelines.
  • Work collaboratively and effectively with the individual study management teams, various core groups at CHOP’s Research Institute and other participating institutions. 
  • Serve as primary liaison between research and other hospital clinical and research staff to carry out the needs of the research project(s).
  • Responsible for project and programmatic budget development, tracking and planning for personnel and non-personnel expenditures
  • Conduct regular budget maintenance to ensure that expenses are accurate and that funds are being spent in compliance with funding guidelines
  • Ensure the matrix of staff and funds align with the work required for all the projects
  • As part of Management Team, develop, review, and update program strategic direction, policies and procedures as needed. 
  • Maintain regulatory compliance of CHOP and other sites by completing and/or overseeing IRB submissions, continuing reviews, close-outs, and communications.
  • Facilitate and support execution of contracts including but not limited to incoming and outgoing subcontracts, data transfer/use agreements, and material transfer agreements
  • Work with internal administrative team and supply chain to procure supplies/equipment
  • Provide high level oversight and integration of all clinical data collection
  • Assist with grant proposal preparations.
  • Responsible for preparation or overseeing preparation of necessary Program Progress reports and Data Safety Monitoring Board
  • Applied knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines including protection of human research subjects with particular emphasis on pediatrics, definitions and reporting requirement for adverse events, elements of informed consent, Federal Codes, Regulations and Guidelines relevant to the performance and conduct of clinical trials

Required Education and Experience

Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree in related field


Required Experience:

  • At least eight (8) years of experience in clinical research. 
  • At least three (3) years of experience in research administration or managing a research group, including budget administration, financial planning, and grants management.
  • At least one (1) year of supervisory experience.

Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic

Preferred Education: Master’s Degree in related field


Preferred Experience:

  • At least five (5) years of experience in research administration or managing a research group, including budget administration, financial planning, and grants management.
  • Experience in an academic institution 
  • At least three (3) years of supervisory experience in a clinical research environment

  • Excellent customer service and time management skills required. Must be able to work effectively with minimal direct oversight and manage multiple projects with varying deadlines for several individuals. Must be able to juggle multiple demands, work styles and needs.
