Job Summary

Clinical Research Assistant (CRA) I will work in Policy Lab at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Research Institute. Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Research Institute is an interdisciplinary institution dedicated to conducting basic, clinical and translational research on conditions and diseases that affect children, and is part of the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and University of Pennsylvania research community.


The CRA will be aiding the Research Study Team and the Principal Investigator in the development and execution of clinical, behavioral, policy and community-engaged research focused on integrating care systems and reducing disparities for children with asthma, as well as other administrative duties. Through research, the team strives to better understand and improve the health of children and youth with asthma. Specific research focus for this position will be implementing a novel intervention to enhance asthma controller medication adherence in the highest risk children by leveraging mobile health technology and incentives – both financial and behavioral – oriented to the child. 

Job Responsibilities

Under direct supervision of the PI and research manager, the CRA will perform research study tasks as assigned. These tasks may include, but are not limited to:

Conducting medical chart reviews

Assisting in the development and management of survey instruments on REDCap, Way to Health, or other platforms as needed

With appropriate authorization and training, recruiting, screening, obtaining consent, and enrolling study participants

Scheduling study visits and coordinating participant incentives

Conducting study visits (including interviews with study subjects), meeting all quality assurance and confidentiality guidelines for data collection, and assuring accurate completion of questionnaires and other data collection during study visits (paper and/or electronic data capture)

Assisting with preparation and organization of study source and regulatory documents electronically and in hard copy

Collecting/entering, managing, cleaning, and analyzing study data

Attending weekly meetings with the CHOP research team and other pertinent project-related meetings

Conducting literature searches and literature reviews through library databases or Internet sources

Managing daily study procedures with other research team members

Adhering to IRB-approved protocols and complying with institutional policies, SOPs, and guidelines

Assisting with IRB submissions

Assisting with grant applications

Assisting with administrative tasks as needed

 

 

Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations

Required Education and Experience

Required Education::  AA in a related field

 

Required Experience:  1+ year(s) relevant clinical research experience

Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic

Preferred Education:  BA/BS in a related field

Additional Technical Requirements

Position Requirements

Ability to function efficiently with minimal supervision in a clinical research setting.

Ability to learn quickly, work independently as well as collaboratively as a member of the study team.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with staff, families, children, and community partners.

Prior research/office experience strongly preferred

Ability to be discreet with confidential materials and sensitive topics

Must be highly motivated, with excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail

Experience with survey software and spreadsheet software is preferred

Experience with MS office is required

Ability to be flexible with work hours to accommodate scheduling needs of study projects
