Job Summary

Dr. Michael O’Byrne at the Center for Pediatric Clinical Effectiveness at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator to join his team.

 

 

Dr. O’Byrne conducts research about children and young adults with congenital and acquired heart disease.  His research focuses on improving outcomes for these children through a combination of patient-oriented research using patient-reported outcomes and health services research (studying practice variation, economic data, and more traditional outcome measures).  He performs observational studies of the determinants of quality of life in children with cardiac disease and conducts secondary analyses of large observational datasets (derived from administrative, claims, clinical registry, and electronic health record data). 

 

 

The ideal candidate will have a Master’s Degree in a health-related field, experience with STATA or similar biostatistical software package, and prior experience in clinical research.  Experience with database programs would be valuable.  It is vital for the applicant to work comfortably within a research team (physicians, study coordinators, and research trainees) with a collaborative and constructive working style. Strong writing, analytical, and organizational skills are important to success in this position.  Job responsibilities would include participation in data management, study implementation, and administration of existent and new protocols.  Assisting the PI with management of regulatory documentation is also part of the expected responsibilities.  Additional opportunities to participate in data analysis, grant preparation, and preparation of oral presentations and manuscripts.  A successful applicant would eventually be responsible for specific projects.

 

 

The candidate will work in a supportive and productive research environment.  The Center for Pediatric Clinical Effectiveness is a pediatric research center dedicated to discovering and disseminating knowledge about best practices in pediatric care by facilitating, organizing, and centralizing the performance of clinical effectiveness research.  The multi-disciplinary team at CPCE conducts research with a broad portfolio of topics.  The applicant will also work in conjunction with analyst associated with the Healthcare Analytics Unit and Cardiac Center Research Core.

Required Education and Experience

Required Education: Associates Degree or active enrollment in a Bachelor’s Degree Program

 

Required Experience: Three (3) years of relevant clinical research experience.

Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic

Preferred Education: Bachelor’s Degree in related field
