The Cardiac Catheterization Lab Technologist has recording, circulating, and scrubbing responsibilities for diagnostic and interventional procedures in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory.
- Circulator Role:
- Operates Point of Care instruments.
- Gathers procedure supplies, catheters, wires, etc.
- Operates equipment need for procedure, Injector, ICE, IVUS, Oxygen Consumption unit, etc.
- Prepares lab samples to be sent.
- Preps patients.
- Applies pressure dressing.
- Scrub Role:
- Sets up sterile field.
- Assists cardiologist with the procedure at the sterile field.
- Preps patients.
- Assists with hemostasis after line pull.
- Holds pressure.
- Recorder Role:
- Documents all activities.
- Maintains log of procedure.
- Calls report to receiving unit.
- Transfers images to archival system.
- Burns angio CDs, when needed.
Required Education: Graduation from an accredited radiologic or cardiovascular school. According to the CMS (Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services) a copy of diploma or transcript is required as proof of academic achievement for all non-laboratory personnel performing non-waived POC testing.
Required Experience: Minimum (one) 1 year interventional radiology experience, if Radiographer.
Preferred Education: Bachelors
- Good organizational, computer, and communication skills.
- Strong interest in technology.
