Job Summary

The Clinical Supervisor will report directly to the Program Director for the associated clinical areas (Crisis & Pediatric Unit or 4th floor pre-teen & adolescent unit). The Clinical Supervisors are pivotal in both the clinical care of the patients and the operations of the hospital. This role will have direct reports that include both nurses and BH Clinicians and lead this partnership within the Relationship-Based Care model. The clinical lead will step in to support the staffing and clinical needs of the patients if indicated. Will have some administrative time and responsibility. And will serve as the Cedar Operational Lead during evening, night, and weekend hours. There will be a group of clinical leads for the Cedar Avenue site that rotate to fill the Cedar Operational Lead role, which requires some off shift (evening, night, and weekend responsibilities). This role provides leadership, clinical mentoring, supervision, and content expertise to meet the clinical, psychosocial and spiritual needs of the patient and family. This role is provided training in crisis intervention/prevention, trauma informed care, therapeutic milieu management, strengths-based interventions and other evidence-based care modalities for the psychiatric treatment of children and adolescents. All team members will be responsible for creating a caring and compassionate, patient focused experienced by fostering healing relationships with patients, families, and colleagues. The patients will experience rigorous, daily programming, individual and family therapy, along with social and emotional skill development. The expectation of the clinical nurse and care team is to provide culturally sensitive, evidenced based, collaborative, and flexible care to meet the needs of the patients at that time. The Clinical Lead will be held to the highest standards of professionalism, collegiality, and clinical practice as a member of the Cedar Ave. Leadership team.  

 

For Cedar Ave, this role can be filled by a nurse with a Pennsylvania Nursing License & BSN or a BH Clinician III (bachelors degree in related field with active pursuit of a Masters degree and a minimum of 2 years experience. Preferred leadership experience for both the nurse and BH Clinician.  

Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations

Registered nurse license in state(s) with jurisdiction over practice location.
CPR Certification issued through an organization that requires a hands-on instructor lead psychomotor skills verification (ex. American Heart Association or Red Cross)

Required Education and Experience

Required Education:  BSN.  According to the CMS (Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services) a copy of diploma or transcript is required as proof of academic achievement for all non-laboratory personnel performing non-waived POC testing.

 

Required Experience:

  • Previous experience with human relations, human & material resource management.
  • Previous experience providing clinical and administrative nursing leadership.
  • At least one (1) year of progressive leadership experience.

To carry out its mission, it is of critical importance for the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) to keep our patients, families and workforce safe and healthy and to support the health of our global community.
