Job Summary

The Assistant Director, Corporate & Foundation Relations (CFR) is a member of Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s CFR team whose primary goal is to secure corporate and private foundation gifts benefiting the Hospital and Research Institute.  This requires stewarding existing institutional donors, identifying new prospects, and working on behalf CHOP in deepening relationship and engagement with companies, corporate foundations, and private foundations.


S/he is responsible for building trusted relationships with doctors, clinical staff, executives, trustees, and other constituents.  S/he will have confident writing and editorial skills which will aid in preparing compelling proposals and translating content for lay audiences. S/he will also help with CHOP’s Corporate Council planning and overall execution, and supporting the Director, Corporate & Foundation Relations and team in this strategy.


As a frontline fundraiser for CHOP, this individual will also act as an ambassador for the Hospital and be able to work collaboratively with gift officers and other CHOP Foundation staff.   S/he will directly report to the Associate Director, Corporate & Foundation Relations and partner with her/him on larger grant strategies and stewardship in this role. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for portfolio of corporate and foundation prospects;
  • Prospect and solicit corporate and foundation grant opportunities;
  • Write, edit and review, letters, proposals and stewardship reports
  • Maintain a portfolio of 50+ active donors and prospects with strong giving potential and varying levels of capacity with a focus on gifts/grants of $25,000 or more. Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward large grants (>$50,000) in support of institutional priorities.

Required Education and Experience

Required Education: Bachelors Degree                                                                        


Required Experience:

  • At least four (4) years professional experience
  • Previous professional experience in business development, healthcare and/or corporate relations

Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic

Preferred Experience:

  • Fundraising experience
  • Volunteer coordination experience

Additional Technical Requirements

  • Evidence of strong writing and communication skills
  • Working knowledge of computers including Microsoft Office a requirement. Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge preferred
